Tourists often enjoy their visit to Thailand so much that they keep coming back for more. For those who want new ways to enjoy their holiday and for adventurous first-timers, cycling tours are an attractive option. Off the beaten tourist track there is the opportunity to see the old Thailand that sometimes travelers forget is there. During riding cyclist can capture its sights, sounds, smells, and tastes with a chance to experience rural life, culture, beautiful nature and charming countryside. But cycling also offers unrivalled freedom of movement. They are mobile enough to cover a lot of ground and cyclists can stop whenever it suits your fancy; to chat with local people, succumb to the allurement of fruit stall, or simply to admire a view.
Due to Thailand’s topography having varied features there are many choices for cyclists while riding route that is suitable to their ability. Northern Thailand is a mountainous region comprising of natural forests, ridges, and deep narrow alluvial valleys. A cycling trip here is a good choice for expert riders. But for beginner and experienced riders they have a choice of the three other regions; the Central Plains, the basin of the Chao Phraya River, composed of a lush, fertile valley of golden rice fields; The northeast region, or the Korat Plateau, a rolling surface and undulating hills region, bordering with Cambodia and Laos; and the southern region, a hilly to mountainous region with thick virgin forests and comprised of two of Thailand’s most famous coasts, the Gulf of Thailand on east side and the Andaman Sea on the west side. Not only can cyclists ride in Thailand but they can continue their tour in Cambodia or Laos.
If cyclists would like to make their trip more adventurous and see Thailand in a different view, they can add a number of Eco-adventure options to their itinerary including; river rafting, trekking, scuba diving, canoeing, kayaking or rock climbing. They can also combine their program with a number of cultural elements, such as Thailand’s famous traditional massage, cooking, local & hill tribe lifestyle, etc.
At the present, travel agencies are beginning to add cycling tours to their programs or choose to be a part of trip activities for an intensive group. A popular choice is the half- day easy trip in Bangkok at Bang Kra Chao route, a half-day easy trip in North & South of Chiang Mai till a 3-week trip in north, south, northeast or Thailand Central Plains. All ages both beginners and experienced are most welcome for cycling in Thailand.
